A New Look For Your Home In 2019

At Leap, we know that interior home renovations are always popular, but to really get a boost for your home’s curb appeal, it is essential to consider updating old siding and giving the house a new, fresh and modern look.

There are several important elements to consider in the trends seen in exterior siding for homes over the last few years. Classic, yet with a very new twist, these often basic refinements to boring old siding can make any home look like a masterpiece.

Color Combinations In Siding

Color Combinations In Siding

While the classic look of a neutral color of siding with a white trim is still popular, there are some distinctive and very new additions to this traditional look. Rather than choosing a single neutral color, consider using more than one shade or tone to develop a more dynamic look to the home.

For example, choose James Hardie siding in Monterey Taupe as the main color for use on the majority of the exterior of the home. Next, choose one or more accent areas such as the area around a second story window or an exterior front-facing wall of the house with a bay window. In this area, use a darker color that brings a touch of drama to the color palette. James Hardie Gray Slate is a top look, bringing a color difference while still remaining a classic color choice. Pairing both of these colors with Arctic White for trim on the home and around windows and doors makes both colors pop.

It is possible to pair neutral grays or “griege” the gray/beige combinations, with bolder colors as well. Reds, blues, and greens add that dazzle of color without being overwhelming. Just keep the dramatic or bold colors to the accent areas.

Try Something New

A popular trend that is becoming a classic across the country is the use of different textures and types of siding. For example, combining lap siding, which is the traditional horizontal plank siding, with shingle siding is a terrific look. The shingle siding can be used as both a different texture element and as the dramatic color, adding to the visual appeal of the different options in the design.

Another look to consider is HardiePanel. This is a traditional type of board and batten siding, which creates vertical rather than the more common horizontal lines. This is a perfect look for gable ends of a home as well as for second story dormers.

Combining wide plank with narrow plank is another option to consider. By choosing the wider plank for the larger areas of the façade and the narrower plank for the bold, dark or accent colors, there is a unique contrast created.

In addition to new siding options and design trends, there are also choices to make in the best fascia and soffit colors, and of course, the ideal windows and doors to really make the exterior of your home truly your own. From start to finish Leap got it right. They presented a great product and offered flexible financing options. They delivered on time and did great work. The whole team was extremely professional. My favorite part of all was the communication! This is something many company's struggle with but not Leap! I highly recommend using them!

Ethan L.

Nothing but a positive experience from the salesman, to the owner, then the installers. All very professional, respectful, kind and very efficient in installing the door with minimal intrusion to our home. We have a long entry hall and wanted to have windows at the top, but obscured so no one could peak in to our home. The style and superior quality was well worth the cost. Would highly recommend Leap Windows and Doors with no hesitation!
